The V Congress of the Republican Public Association "QazaqGeography" was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“QazaqGeography carries out systematic work to study the history and culture of Kazakhstan, the development of ecotourism and the implementation of other important projects aimed at maintaining unity and reviving the spiritual values of the Kazakh people,” QazaqGeography Chairman A. Mamin said at the opening of the Congress.
He noted the growing recognition of QazaqGeography and the activity of its regional offices. ““A lot of caring people, real professionals are joining the common work. It is especially important to involve young people in this area.
Knowing the geography and history of our land should be the main
interest of every Kazakhstani,” he emphasized.
The event participants approved the new edition of the QazaqGeography Charter, which provides for the expansion of the Association's activities, as well as its representation in all regions of Kazakhstan. At the same time, provisions were adopted on the procedure for organizing and conducting the QazaqGeography Congress, the procedure for joining and membership in the ROO, and on the Chairman of QazaqGeography.
Karim Massimov was re-elected Chairman of the QazaqGeography Board of Trustees, Orman Nurbaev, Chairman of the Governing Council, and Dauren Abayev, Chairman of the Media Council. At the congress, it was decided to open QazaqGeography regional representative offices in Almaty, Atyrau, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Turkestan regions and in the city of Shymkent, which ensures coverage by unification of all regions of the country.
With report of the results of 2019 and plans for 2020 was reported by the Chairman of the Board of QazaqGeography Zhana Rustem. For active participation and contribution to the development of QazaqGeography, a number of members and partners of the Association were awarded diplomas and souvenirs. The Congress was attended by members of the Board of Trustees of QazaqGeography, heads of regional representative offices of the Association, members of the Government, the leadership of JSC NC “Kazakh Tourism”, the Kazakh Research Institute of Culture, representatives of UNDP, the Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity, businessmen, etc.
Within the framework of the Congress, the photo exhibition “The Taste of Food” was also launched and the book of ethnographer Aigerim Musagazhinova, “Kazakhs as: dүstүr men dәm”, was presented.
RPO "QazaqGeography" was established on October 16, 2013, brings together more than 900 members and more than 50 partner organizations. Over the years, QazaqGeography organized 17 expeditions, more than 15 conferences, forums and festivals, published 16 books, photo albums, guides and maps, implemented more than 70 educational, environmental and ecotourism projects.
In 2019, the Association together with Nazarbayev University organized the annual scientific expedition “Aral-2019”, with the JSC “NK“ Kazakh Tourism ”- the equestrian expedition“ Kieli Kazakhstan ”, as well as the international expedition“ Silk Road - the path of dialogue ”across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and To Uzbekistan. In November of this year QazaqGeography was the representative of Kazakhstan at the congress of the Asian Geographic Association (AGA) and the International Conference on Geography (CCG-2019).
During the year, informative excursions, lectures and master classes by scientists, travelers and photographers in geography, ecology and related disciplines, quest expeditions in a playful way, preparation for geography competitions were held for geography teachers and schoolchildren on a weekly basis. The exhibitions “Macrophotographs of Insects of Pavlodar Region”, “My Kazakhstan” and “The Most Beautiful Country” were organized as part of the Russian Week in Kazakhstan, “Geography is a line of cultural perspective”, and “The way of the Red-breasted Goose”, which were visited by over 4 thousand people.
